1)  Q Is it true that my password expired and I should change it when logging in to the school computer?
A
Your password has not expired, so you should NOT change it. If you are unable to log in because you have forgotten your password, ask your teacher to email your name, birth date, and NC Wise # to the technology facilitator to have it reset.
2)  Q What are e-books?
A
E-books are electronic books that can be accessed from the online public access catalog located on the Harnett County Homepage. These are virtual books that can be checked out and read online.
3)  Q How do I check out an e-book?
A
Type the name of the ebook in the search box using Destiny's online public access catalog. Click on Destiny on the Harnett County homepage to link you to the search box. Be sure to change the format to ebook when conducting your search.
4)  Q How do I access NC Wiseowl at home?
A
Ask your teacher or media coordinator for the password.
5)  Q Do you have audio books?
A
Yes. There are audio books available for check out. An audio book that is gaining more popularity among students is a Playaway which is a device similar to a MP3 player. You listen to a book using an earpiece connected to a small battery operated audio book called a Playaway.
6)  Q Where do I find current events?
A
You look through out selection of magazines and newspapers located in the downstairs media center. Also you can access newspaper articles by using NC Wise Owl. Locate NC Wise Owl on the Harnett County Webpage and click on High School Zone. You should be able to find the database for newspapers there.
7)  Q How do I schedule a student to use Kurzweil software to take a test?
A
First, you need to scan or upload a test from your files into the students shared folder by using the Kurzweil computers in the upstairs media center. Then inform Mrs. Pope of the number of students that will be using Kurzweil. The students will sign in, take the test, and sign out. Mrs. Pope will assist the students who are unfamiliar with the procedures.
8)  Q How can I find out what books are available in the media center?

You can do a search in Destiny which is Triton's media center's online public access catalog. To see the new arrivals in our collection click on Destiny Quest. You will find several features here that help you personalize your own search.
9)  Q Can I check out a magazine?
A
Yes. You can check out magazines and newspapers.
10)  Q What resources are available for helping me with citations?
A
MLA handbooks are available for check out and there is a citation maker online. Go to NC Wise Owl, click on High School Zone and you will find Citation Maker. Mrs. Pope will assist you. There is a folder in the upstairs media center with information on using APA.
11)  Q Where do teachers find information about the School Improvement Plan, Athletic Duties, Schedules, and other helpful information?

Look on the teachers shared drive. This is accessed by clicking on Computers which accessed by clicking on Start at the bottom left of you computer screen.
