The object of education is to prepare the young to educate themselves throughout their lives. - Robert Maynard Hutchins

 Mrs. Roberts

I am excited to introduce myself as your child’s first grade teacher at LaFayette Elementary School.  I grew up in Mount Airy, North Carolina, but was introduced to Harnett County while attending Meredith College. I knew that Harnett County was the place for me because of the family-centered community you have created.  Other than the wonderful students in our classrooms, Mr. Roberts and I have no children. We do, however, have a mischievous cat named Jynx and a hound dog named Lady who are always causing some kind of trouble. You may expect to hear stories of their latest adventures!

Your child’s growth and development are my central concerns.  Their needs are my priorities, so I try to create a learning environment where all students feel comfortable and are certain that they can succeed both academically and personally. I strive to ensure that each child is nurtured to his or her full potential in a classroom that supports academic growth through instruction tailored to suit his or her unique needs. I am also a firm believer in Positive Behavioral Support – an approach that focuses on awarding good behavior. I hope to make first grade a year for your child to S.O.A.R. with the LaFayette Eagles both inside and outside of the classroom!

I believe in the saying “it takes a village to raise a child” and truly look forward to teaming up with LaFayette staff and parents to help meet your child’s needs so he or she can reach full potential this year. I always welcome parent participation in our classroom to celebrate student learning, and hope that if you have available time during the day, that you would consider volunteering in our classroom. Again, thank you so much for the warm welcome and I look forward to a very successful school year.
