Mr. Jim Montgomery joined the Triton Hawks in January of 2005. A 1982 graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston Massachusetts, Mr. Montgomery enlisted in the US Army and served 22 years as an Army Bandsman. His tours of duty included two tours with the 18th Army Band at Fort Devens, Massachusetts, 2nd Infantry Division Band, Camp Casey Korea, two tours with the 82nd Airborne Division Band, (Greatest Band in the World!), at Fort Bragg, NC, with missions in England, France, Haiti, Kuwait, and Iraq, and the 77th Army Band, Fort Sill Oklahoma. He has the distinction of having been the only Army Flute/Piccolo player that was rated as a Master Parachutist and Master Jumpmaster with over 100 military parachute jumps. Prior to his retirement from the Army in 2004, Mr. Montgomery attended the Graduate School of Education at Campbell University to further his education and receive his North Carolina teaching license. Mr. Montgomery is an active performing musician in the area, performing professionally as a soloist and as a member of community ensembles as a flute, clarinet and saxophonist. Married to Mrs. Deb Montgomery, a Music Teacher herself, they have four children, Robin, Andrew, Matthew, and Greg.
