Our building dates back to 1923 and within the walls and halls of this school are many memories that are precious to the people of Erwin, NC. I am a product of Harnett County Schools and grew up in the Erwin community. I feel it is my duty to give back to a town that has given me some many wonderful memories. At Erwin we are dedicated to teaching a balanced curriculum, developing good citizenship, and fostering an appreciation for cultural and ethnic diversity. As a staff, we have decided that we must form a system of cooperation which enables teachers, parents, students, administrators, and our community to work together to prepare our students for the 21st century. We welcome all members of the community to help us reach our goal of creating global citizens capable of impacting the world in a positive way. Our Mission Erwin Elementary School is dedicated to forming a spirit of cooperation which enables teachers, parents, students, administrators, and the community to work together to prepare students to be productive and well-adjusted members of society. Inherent in this goal is the expectation that education will be focused on the need of the individual student to adjust to the rapidly changing world. This school is committed to keeping abreast of innovative ideas in education and incorporating new changes in technology into the curriculum. The teacher will serve as a learner with the student for that is the common conducive to learning and growth.
Enabling each student to develop communication skills, computational skills, creative-thinking skills, problem-solving skills and an appreciation for the arts is important to our mission if the learner is to be successful in making connections between the concepts learned in school and his everyday life.
Erwin Elementary is committed to providing enhancements and events whereby students can feel welcome, happy and effectual. Students will be given opportunities to practice good citizenship and attain an appreciation for the importance of cultural and ethnic diversity in our society. Individual differences will be cherished and provided for within our varied curriculum.
The school will work with parents to foster good attitudes toward school and to promote regular school attendance with the overall purpose of strenghtening the character traits that will ultimately maximize the capacity of every student to realize success.
