This month we are continuing our long vowel pattern study. We will also focus on puctuation marks and their proper usage. The following iPad apps have been helping us with these activities:Grammar Jammers, Phonics Awareness, Phonics Monster, and Tic Tac Toe. Every week I post a question pertaining to our theme on Kidblog. The students enjoy logging in on the computers and typing their responses.
Science/Social Studies/Health
Science: We are starting a unit study on penguins. We will use the iPad app Antarctica to look at real photos of penguins. We will be doing research on various snow animals from The Mitten byJan Brett as well.
Social Studies: This month we will study Martin Luther King, Jr. and Chinese New Year.

Math
We have been working on geometric shapes. The students really enjoyed taking the iPads adn iPods around the school taking pictures of shapes they were assigned. The following iPad app has been helping us practice this skill: Learn Shapes.
