On behalf of the faculty and staff at Anderson Creek Primary School, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all students, parents, grandparents, family, friends and visitors. We want to thank our parents and families for entrusting your children with us each and every day. We are excited about our plans for the upcoming school year. At Anderson Creek Primary School we continue to work as partners “United As One,” to provide the best education for all children. Please know that I am highly accessible and available to assist you in meeting the needs of your child. As always, my door is open. Beginning this year, the curriculum (what we want students to know and be able to do) is changing in every elementary school classroom. The NC Standard Course of Study is being replaced with new standards called the Common Core or Essential Standards. These new standards are more rigorous in reading, writing, and math. Our students will become problem-solvers and independent thinkers in order to be better prepared for their future. You may find additional information concerning Common Core Standards at: www.ncpublicschool.org/acre/standards. We are excited to announce that our school will be embracing The Leader in Me school-wide implementation process this year. Many have read Stephen Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. The Leader in Me is more than a character education program, it teaches children how to develop leadership traits that will allow them to be 21st century learners and leaders. I am confident that by continuing to work as a team we will ensure that all students at Anderson Creek Primary are provided a safe, nurturing, challenging, cooperative and caring learning climate. I encourage our parents and families to join the home-school partnership and take an energetic role in the education of all our boys and girls as we “Inspire Greatness, One Child at a Time!”
