Benhaven School was established in 1924.  It is the oldest or 2nd oldest school in Harnett County depending on who you ask.  Nestled in the countryside the name Benhaven means "Hill of Refuge" which has been true for the 50,000 students who have passed through its doors since Warren Harding was President.  Benhaven has been a K-12 school, a K-8 school, a 3-5 school and now is a K-5 Elementary School.

Benhaven has 4 original buildings built in 1924, 1936 (the two-story building pictured on the website), 1946, and 1956.  Since 2005 we have also added two 6-classroom PODS to handle student growth over the past four years.  In, 2004 Benhaven Elementary had 400 students, today we have 625 and counting!  Benhaven has great diversity among its students and staff and has been a regional leader for high student achievement.

Benhaven students had the highest growth per student of any elementary school in Harnett County last year.  We also led the Western Area schools in student proficiency and once again expect to lead the way based on a strong, balanced curriculum and a talented devoted staff.  The parents at Benhaven are second to none and the collaboration between school and home have a direct effect on the schools continued success.
