Western Harnett High E-Learning

Welcome to the exciting world of Distance Learning. We are doing some exciting things in Harnett County and are making it easier for your child to be competitive with students from around the globe. We feel that it is important for your child to not only have 21st century skills, but to be able to use and apply them in today's world. Currently, we offer courses online through North Carolina Virtual Public School (NCVPS). All courses are completely FREE for students.

Through NCVPS, we are able to offer students high school courses that are not currently available at their local high school.  Such courses include German, Latin, French, Mandarin Chinese, Arabic, Russian, Japanese, Computer Programming, SAS Programming I, Medieval Studies, Honors Psychology, Videographing I, Music Appreciation, Music Business and Recording, Art of Game Design I, Non-Western Art History, Visual Journaling, AP Psychology, AP Computer Science, AP Art History, and AP Music Theory, AP Human Geography.  Student's earn high school credit for taking these courses.  All AP courses are year-long, all other courses taken through NCVPS are semester-long and students get 1 credit.

My name is Gail Ryan, and I am one of four Distance Learning Facilitators in Harnett County.  I started in February of 2008 dividing my day between Overhills High school and Western Harnett High school. August 2010 it was decided that each high school would have a full time facilitator.  I am now full time here at WHHS. See schedule below for locations.

My responsibility is to help students reach their full potential while taking online courses. I facilitate the different courses that go on during one of my classes. In one classroom I have at least five different courses all in one classroom.  Course work is available via internet to students 24/7 where ever students can access a computer. Should students need to reach me after classroom hours,  Email Me
