Degrees and Certifications:
Dear Parents and students,
Welcome to Spanish. Please allow me to tell you a little about myself. My name is Avis A. Kelly. Spanish is my native language. This is my 1st year teaching at Triton High. I previously taught in Winston-Salem, NC, Virginia and Florida. I also have many years of experience in the private sector, as a Senior Production Linguist, for two multinational corporations. I have an MA in Spanish Literature/Linguistics from Penn State University. I’m absolutely thrilled to be here at Triton High School! I’m looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our students achieve their highest potential. I recognize that in order to be successful in school, our students need support from both the home and school. I know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in our children’s education. I ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:
1) Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience or join the virtual classroom as stated in his schedule.
2) Completes all homework assignments given by teachers.
3) Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills.
4) Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life.
5) Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject.
6) Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school and go on to college.
All students receive a copy of the Student Handbook, or may access it on our website. Please read it so you and your child can review them together. If you have any questions about the rules and expectations, please feel free to contact me firstname.lastname@example.org or through the school portal. This is an unusual beginning to the School year. It will be more important than ever to be very diligent about communicating and reading through information! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
Thank you for your support and I look forward to a positive productive year.
PARENTAL FYI: Monitor Student Progress
To avoid “surprises” regarding student grades, please utilize the Power School Learning located on the Harnett Co. Schools website. It is a tool that allows parents and students access to student information through the Internet at work or at home. Grades are updated every 7 to 10 days, therefore please remain cognizant of student development!
