Mrs. Emily Koenig
My name is Mrs. Emily Koenig (Kay-Nig), but you can call me Mrs.K! Excuse my northern accent and mannerisms as I was born in the great state of Wisconsin! My family moved around to Missouri, and finally settled in North Carolina! I received a bachelor's degree in Communication (minors in English and Psychology) at Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri. After I graduated, I joined Teach for America and began teaching in North Carolina. I have been teaching for 6 years as a special education teacher (CCR for five and a half years, and the SED for half a year), but am dual certified. I have learned a lot about not only the academic needs of students but also their emotional needs. This year, I am a 4th-grade general education teacher here at South Harnett Elementary School. I hope to instill a sense of trust, comfort, and responsibility among our learners. My channels of communication are always open to both parents and students! I have enjoyed working with my classroom these past 3 quarters and cannot wait to see them continue their educational journey.
