Volunteer Opportunities

Whether you have an hour to give occasionally or would like to serve as a regular volunteer or tutor, Harnett County Schools welcomes your support. Volunteers play an important role in enriching educational experiences, supporting our educators, and helping students succeed.

By sharing your time, talents, and experiences, you are making an investment in our students, our schools, and the future of Harnett County. Your involvement helps strengthen the connection between our schools and the community while creating meaningful opportunities for student growth and achievement.

Volunteer Approval Process

To ensure the safety of our students and comply with Board of Education Policy 7030, all volunteers age 18 and older must complete a background check before participating in volunteer activities.

  1. Visit www.harnettvolunteers.com
  2. Click "Click Here to Register" under the New Volunteer section.
  3. Review the Release of Information and click "Acknowledge and Sign."
  4. Complete the Registration Form and click "Submit."
  5. Log out when the registration process is complete.

Your information will be checked through national and state registries. The approval process typically takes 3–5 business days.

Once approved, your name will be added to the district's approved volunteer list, and you will be eligible to volunteer in Harnett County Schools.

After approval, your school's Volunteer Coordinator will contact you regarding volunteer opportunities that match your availability, interests, and skills.

Test Proctors Needed

Harnett County Schools welcomes community members to serve as test proctors during state testing administrations. Test proctors play an important role in helping ensure the security and integrity of the testing process.

State assessments are administered throughout the school year, and proctors are needed during each testing cycle. If you are interested in serving as a test proctor, please contact your local school principal or school test coordinator for more information.
