Request Transportation Process

HCS requires parents to visit their child's school(s) to request transportation. The Data Manager, Assistant Principal, or other designated staff will enter the transportation request in Infinite Campus. The transportation department will be notified the next day of the request.
When requesting transportation, please indicate if your child will be a bus rider for AM only, PM only, or BOTH. Also, add if the pickup and drop off location will be the same as the home address or alternate address. REMINDER: both home and alternate addresses MUST be within the school's boundary.
Please register for a BusPlanner Web parent portal account to get notified of your child's bus information (bus number, bus stop location, and estimated times for pickup/drop off).

Bus De-Assignment Process

The purpose of this process is to ensure the HCS Transportation Department has the most updated ridership information in order to operate buses as effectively and efficiently as possible.
If a student(s) does not ride the bus for ten (10) consecutive days, a request will be submitted by the bus driver to have your child removed from the bus route.
In order to re-establish bus transportation, parents must contact their child's assigned school to request transportation.
Once the request has been made, staff will follow the process below:
- School personnel will update the student's transportation in Infinite Campus.
- Each night, the information will be imported into our routing software.
- Within 48 hours, students will be assigned to a bus route and stop location.
- Once assigned, parents can view bus stop information on the BusPlanner Web parent portal.

What Parents Should Know

🚌 Bus stop safety matters. Please ensure your child arrives at the bus stop safely, on time, and is ready to board when the bus arrives.
⏰ Be on time. Buses cannot wait at stops, as delays impact the entire route. We ask that parents/students arrive at the bus stop at least ten minutes before the expected arrival time.
🛣️ Route limitations. School buses travel only on state-maintained roads, municipal streets, or roadways with a publicly dedicated right-of-way.
🔄 Route changes may occur. While we strive to keep routes consistent, adjustments may be necessary due to enrollment changes or funding limitations.
👀 Watch for school buses. Please remain alert to school buses on the road and students waiting at bus stops.
📱 Track your child’s bus. Parents are encouraged to use the Here Comes the Bus app for real-time bus tracking and route updates.
