Title I, Part A: Improving Academic Achievement of Disadvantaged Students

  • "Title I" refers to "Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA). The purpose of the Title I program is to help low-achieving students meet our state's challenging academic content and performance standards. Schools qualify for Title I funds based on economic need. 

    Title I Highlights:
    Acts as largest federal aid program in our nation's schools
    Promotes high-quality education for all students
    Offers supplemental services to students who have not yet achieved grade level proficiency
    Involves parents in students' education
