Welcome to 4th Grade
Hi! My name is Maegan Brennan. This is my fifth year teaching fourth grade at Erwin Elementary School. I am originally from New York, where I completed my undergraduate degree from NY State University at Cortland with a BS in childhood education in 2010. I then completed my masters degree at The Sage Colleges in Troy, NY with a MS in special education and literacy in 2013.

I currently live in Sanford, with my husband Dave and our two dogs, Ollie and Remy. We are very excited as we are expecting the arrival our first child in September.
  • Homework
Nightly students will have reading and math homework.

Reading: Students are expected to read at least 20 minutes nightly. Each month students will be assigned a genre of which they are to pick a chapter book of their choice. Throughout the month students will be expected to complete the book. At the end of the month, students will choose a project from their choice boards to complete on what they read and turn in. The project each month will be used as an ELA grade.

Math: Each week students will be given a math sheet that has the entire weeks homework on it. Each night there will be 8-10 problems assigned. Students are welcomed to go ahead for the week and complete the nights when they have time, but each night must be ready for the following morning, (ie: Tuesday night's column must be completed by Wednesday morning but students may go ahead if they prefer). On Friday the entire completed sheet will be collected. We will go over the assigned homework daily in class.

    House Keeping
    1. There will be time for a daily snack built into the day if students would like to bring in a healthy snack to eat. If they would like to bring a drink, please only bring in water.
    2. Each month a book order will go home, if students would like to order something from the catalog, you can either order online, or send in a check payable to scholastic.
    3. Remind 101: Don't forget to sign up for remind 101 to get free updates and reminders from me and personal texts about your child. To do so please send the message @94db83 to 81010. This is a great communication tool!
    4. As always, if you have any questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to contact me via phone, email or Remind!
