Mr. Joe Caro

My name is Joe Caro. I have been a member of the Harnett County community and have been for 34 years. I am originally from New York City. I have earned two degrees. An Associates Degree in Computer Science Technology and a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. I enjoy integrating technology into my instructions when possible. I am very happy to continue to give back to a community that has given me so much in return. I consider myself fortunate to be among such professional staff of leaders here at Harnett Primary.

I realize that teaching your child is a privilege, as well as a tremendous responsibility. I will do my best to ensure that each student has a motivating and safe learning experience in the classroom. However, I cannot do this alone. I need your help. We both need to be partners in the learning process. I ask and need each parent to encourage your child at home by helping to ensure that they have completed their assignments, and help them study for quizzes, if necessary. I know with your help that we are going to have a great year.

Teaching children is my mission and passion. It is my intention to instill a desire that every child will graduate from high school and/or college. I want to inspire them to be globally competitive leaders and prepared to work in the 21st Century. I believe this will be needed in order for them to achieve and fulfill their dreams. The future is sooner than we think.

As parents, you can support your child's educational growth in the following areas:

School Supplies- Please ensure to provide your child with the requested supplies. At times during the year, I may request other supplies for activities in the classroom.

Homework- Your child must read every night, complete reading/math practice sheet, and complete any other assignments that enhance classroom learning. Please check your child’s assignments daily, but allow him or her to take responsibility for doing the work. Homework assignments are due on Fridays, unless otherwise specified. However, if your child is having difficulties with homework assignments please have them query this before Friday.

Classwork Progress/Samples: Your child will take home bi-weekly work folder with a an update of their progress and samples of his or her work. Please review their work and provide support as needed. The stamped samples must be signed and returned to school and unstamped samples kept at home.

Rules and Procedures- Your child is expected to follow school and classroom rules and procedures. Please review the “Classroom Management Plan section” of the student handbook given to you at the beginning of the school year.

Behavior: I do not send home daily conduct behavior. I do however, make phone calls or send home a letter if your child breaks any of the school or classroom rules.

Conferences & Communication- Throughout the year I will make conference requests, in order to discuss your child’s strengths or concerns. You may also contact me to make a conference appointment. Please make sure your child is aware if you are sending a note to the teacher. I will make a sincere effort to respond to your comments or concerns as soon as possible. For any dismissal changes, please send a written note or contact the office. This ensures your child’s safety.

Parent Volunteer- If you are interested in helping out in class, or school activities, please fill out the volunteer form on the county’s website.
