I began my teaching career in August 2000, and I have enjoyed teaching elementary, middle, and high school levels throughout my career. I have also served as an adjunct Developmental Reading Instructor at Fayetteville Technical Community College.

About Me: I value education and wholeheartedly believe that "to teach is is to learn twice" and that ALL students are capable of learning. I enjoy researching how students learn, why learning is a challenge for some students, and how instruction can be enhanced to promote students' success. I also research various achievement gaps so that I can better understand them and identify ways to close them! I take pride in my positive rapport with the students at Overhills High School. I am an advocate for education and help ensure students become accountable for their learning and that they understand the value of education. I strive to help students grow both academically and socially. I want every student to realize that they are important, can make a difference, and that they are in charge of their destiny. The peer tutoring program has allowed me to help cultivate student leaders who are not afraid to take academic risks! 

Peer Tutoring: I am excited about the Peer Tutoring program and how it will positively impact students who serve as peer tutors and those that receive tutoring services. Peer Tutors will demonstrate R.I.S.E. as they provide tutoring services throughout our school, and they will also enhance their leadership potential through collaboration, perfecting communication skills, and by supporting various methods of instruction. The peer tutoring program is so successful because students can often relate better to each other during the learning experience. These interactions will lead to improvements in self-confidence which in return can lead to improvements in academic performance!
