We are a hardworking classroom! We start each day with morning work, move into our whole group lesson (which also includes independent and small group practice), and finish our class with about an hour or so worth of reading groups. Reading groups are very important and take up a lot of class time. While I am working with a reading group, my other students are working independently and with other students, at times, on their centers. The centers change weekly, but always consist of a health assignments, a social studies assignment, class connection activities, passages, etc. We are a one-to-one school and because of this, we use Mac laptops daily. These are used for a range of items; from Google Classroom to Scholastic to Readworks to KidsHealth.org....and on and on. We love our technology!
I am from Fuquay-Varina, but I have lived in Dunn for 4 years. I started teaching first grade at Harnett Primary in 2009 and continued in first grade for six years. I then moved to Wayne Avenue and this is my third year; I taught math and science for one year and this is my second year teaching reading and social studies. I am married to my wonderful husband, Jeff, and we have been blessed with two awesome little boys, Andy, 4, and Henry, almost one year! We have a black-lab mix named Harley that is completely spoiled! I love what I do and bring my heart to my classroom each day. I love to watch and be a part of the students' learning! Go Bulldogs!
