Greetings, and welcome to what promises to be a different type of school year!
My name is Dr. Crowder, and I am thrilled to be teaching Latin and English at Harnett Central High School. I started teaching high school in 2004 and have spent the past fifteen years working with students at the secondary and post-secondary level. I earned a Master's Degree in Greek and Latin at Ohio State in 2000 and a Ph.D. in Education from UNC, Chapel Hill in 2015. At these institutions, I taught undergraduate and graduate classes on classical literature, mythology, children's literature, classroom teaching, and international curriculum. Over the past few summers, I taught Latin with the CCCC Upward Bound Program at Campbell University (and this past summer, online, of course), and I serve on the editorial boards of two academic journals that publish research on secondary education. This will be my fourth year at HCHS.
In my free time, I enjoy backpacking and camping, gardening and rooting for the Cleveland Indians. I share my life with Karla, my wife, two children, five cats, one dog and three horses.
