Mr. Curt Collins

Mr. Curt Collins, who is currently completing his 20th year in the classroom, is the director of bands at Western Harnett High School. He has previously taught at Union Middle and High Schools in Sampson County and Western Harnett Middle School. He graduated from Western Harnett High School and attended UNCG as a North Carolina Teaching Fellow. While at UNCG, he performed with the Wind Ensemble, Horn Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra. In the summer of 1999, he performed and toured the U.S. with the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps.

Mr. Collins has also served on the staff of the UNCG Summer Music Camp for 8 seasons as a counselor and rehearsal assistant. He is currently President of the NC Southeastern District Bandmasters Association and also serves as the Fine Arts Department Chair at Western Harnett High School and serves as a Beginning Teacher Mentor.

Students from his programs regularly audition for and attend County, District and State Honor Band Clinics.  The Western Harnett HS Band has only received Excellent and Superior ratings at Music Performance Assessment during his tenure. He lives in Lillington with his wife Laura (also a band director) and their sons, Calvin and Charlie.
