Mrs. Desiree Thompson
Greetings Parents and Learners! I am Desiree Thompson and this is my 9th year teaching. I have taught 5th grade every year of my career. This is my second year teaching for Harnett County Schools and at Overhills Elementary School.
I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii but consider North Carolina home. I grew up in a military household, so I moved quite a bit. As a child, I moved from Hawaii to Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Texas, Vermont, and then back to North Carolina. I graduated from 71st High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina in 2006. I went on to study Elementary Education and Psychology at Winston Salem State University in Winston Salem, North Carolina. So hard to be a RAM! I received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. I started my teaching career in Cumberland County Schools in 2011.
In 2014, I married my wonderful husband Quincy, who serves in the US Army. We moved to New York ( Fort Drum) in 2015, then to Tennessee (Fort Campbell) in 2016, and then back to North Carolina (Fort Bragg) in 2019. We have 3 wonderful boys, Dezmond (6), Quinten (4), and Abrien (born in Oct. 2019).
I enjoy spending time with my family and traveling to new places. I do not have much free time, but when I do, I love bowling.
