     Triton is coached by T. J. Morrison, a 1995 graduate of the school.  He is also a 1999 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  He is starting his 15th year as the Varsity Boys’ Basketball coach.  This is his 19th year as a head coach with a previous stint at Midway High School from 2003-2007.  This is his 23rd year as a teacher in North Carolina.  He started his career at Smithfield-Selma High School from 1999-2003, where he coached jv basketball and assisted with the varsity program.

    Coach Morrison also serves on the advisory board and volunteers with the Dunn Police Athletic and Activities League (PAL).  Several of the Hawk players are members at PAL, help with tutoring, and are involved in Youth Leadership.  They play travel basketball with the Wildcats, coached by Lt. Rodney Rowland of the Dunn Police Department.

    While at UNCG, his coaching career started with coaching recreation teams at the Guilford College YMCA, then coaching with Guilford Middle School, and the Greensboro Gaters.

    Coach Morrison is originally from Dunn, NC and now resides in Coats, NC with his family.  His wife of 22 years is Jamie Morrison, a guidance counselor at Coats Elementary School.  His daughter Sydney, 18, is a Freshman at North Carolina State University.  His son Carter, 13 is in the 8th grade at Coats-Erwin Middle School.  Carter enjoys attending practice when he can and sitting on the bench with the team.
