Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Karen Connors
Hello! I am Karen Connors and this is my 20th year of teaching for Harnett County Schools. This is my third year at Overhills Elementary and I am loving it. The staff and students are so wonderful!
I am a native of North Carolina, born in Fayetteville. I lived there for my first 11 years before moving to Harnett County to begin my 6th grade year. I graduated from Western Harnett in 1986! It took me a little while to get back to school so I dabbled in some odd jobs I really enjoyed. I worked at Bojangels for 7 years starting as a cashier in high school and working my way through management. I worked at a video store and a florist which both were lots of fun. I even went to trade school to become a manacurist! But my husband and my parents wanted my dreams to come true so they sent me to Campbell University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science of K-6 Elementary Education in 1999. I am also AIG certified. I have since taught 6th grade Science for 6 years and this is my 14th year in 5th grade.
I am married to Rick and we have a son, Ricky, who is a graduate of Methodist University in Fayetteville. We also have a wonderful little dog named Downey.
In my free time I LOVE to read! I probably enjoy the fantasy books the most but a few of my favorite areTangerine, The Alchemist, The Roar, House of the Scorpion, Jane Eyre, The Book Thief, the Land, and Schooled. I love lots of books but those are the ones I make really excited sounds about before I pick them up.
