National Student Leadership Week - Thursday: Olivia Jackson, Student at Western Harnett High School
Olivia Jackson is the daughter of Curtis and Andrea Jackson of Cameron. She has lived in Harnett County (Johnsonville/Cameron area) and attended Harnett County Schools her entire life. She is currently a senior at Western Harnett High School and plans to attend Fayetteville State University in the Fall to major in business concentrating in marketing. She will also play softball there for the FSU Broncos.
Olivia is a member of Western Harnett’s Academic Beta Club, National Technical Honors Society, and the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of American Club. Recently, she has been working at Carolina Performing Arts Studio in Cameron, NC. While she works there as a receptionist, she also volunteers in assisting one of the Irish dance classes for 3-5-year-olds. Some other volunteer work that Olivia has been involved in includes volunteering at the county PTO Thrift Store in Olivia, NC, and many opportunities through her school and travel softball team. She participates in annual food drives and holiday meal prep for the Apex community through her travel ball team. In 2019, she and WHHS’s varsity softball team volunteered in the Harnett County recreation youth softball and baseball clinic. The clinic allowed Olivia to help younger kids learn the game basics and improve their fundamentals in softball and baseball. She states, “It was extremely rewarding and touching to see that I had a great influence over those kids, and what I was teaching them would stick with them.”
