science Olympiad
Science Olympiads

Overhills Elementary, Benhaven Elementary, and Erwin Elementary represented Harnett County Schools at the Science Olympiads, held at Overhills Elementary School last week.

Science Olympiad is a K-12 science, technology, engineering, and mathematics competition that elevates science education to the level of support and enthusiasm typically reserved for school sports.

NCSO’s elementary events align with the NC Standard Course of Study and what teachers are already doing in the classroom. These events are well balanced between the various science disciplines, requiring knowledge of science facts, concepts, processes, skills and applications. Olympic-style medals are awarded to top placing individuals in each event. Team trophies are also awarded to top placing teams at each tournament.

Kudos to all the participants, and congratulations to Overhills Elementary and Benhaven Elementary for winning 2nd and 3rd place.
