ADAM KEMP MEMORIAL FUND

Adam Kemp was a 12-year-old Harnett County student who was killed as he was crossing the road at his home to board the school bus in 2012. The Adam Kemp Memorial Fund was established by supportive members and businesses in the local community, along with Adam’s family to spread awareness and remind every driver to stop for the bus and to promote school bus safety to students.

In the process of closure nearly 11 years after Adam’s passing, The Adam Kemp Memorial Fund, Inc. presented Harnett County Board of Education with a check in the amount of $10,000. The funds will be used to benefit School Bus Safety for Harnett County.

With North Carolina's first stop-arm safety program, Harnett County is taking action against dangerous driving around school buses. School buses in the district are equipped with stop-arm cameras to detect the license plates of drivers that illegally pass stopped school buses and put our kids at risk.

We would like to thank the Adam Kemp Memorial Fund Inc. and Mr. Brad Abate for their work to support the Harnett County Schools Bus Safety Program. We invite you all to join us, remember Adam, and help spread the word: “Just Stop” for the bus, to keep our children safe.
