HCHS SWIM TEAM: 3A STATE SWIM MEET

The Harnett Central High School swim team participated in the 3A State Swim Meet at Triangle Aquatics Center in Cary.  Preliminaries were held in the morning leading up to the finals in the evening session.

HCHS had two relay teams invited to the preliminaries and two individual swimmers invited for separate individual events.

Ayden Burkhardt participated in the 200 yard freestyle in the preliminaries and also advanced to the consolation round of the finals for the 100 yard backstroke.  His time of :57.07 is a new school record (beating his own set last year) and placed ninth in the event.

Nolan Walker advanced to the consolation round of the finals for the 50 yard freestyle and finished in tenth place in the event at :22.72.  Nolan also advanced to the state final round in the 100 yard breaststroke event.  He finished that breaststroke event in second place for State 3A competition and beat a school record (he set last year) with a time of 1:00.22.

Head Coach Ava Maldonado was overwhelmed with pride. She shared her heartfelt congratulations, "Congratulations to the whole HCHS swim team for an amazing season - especially in representing our school and district at the 3A State Finals!  I'm proud of the personal records, school records, integrity shown, and sportsmanship displayed by our team this year.  Thank you to the School, the HCHS Athletic Booster club and all the parents for their support this season and every season!"

We join coach Maldonado and HCHS in celebrating these athletes and all their accomplishments this season!
