HCHS SENIOR PRANK

Harnett Central High School seniors, Miles West, Austin Stephenson, and Aiden Taylor pull off an epic senior prank, when they turned the school patio into a fishing hole.

The idea started at the beginning of the semester, when the trio realized that their senior year was coming to an end. They decided to consult their fire tech teacher, Jonathan Denton for advice on their “project”. Mr. Denton loves to challenge students with hard work, life lessons, and dedication. This project was no exception. Armed with his good advice, materials and technical expertise, they went to work.

Miles and Austin arrived on campus at 4:00 am on Monday morning. With great care, they covered the patio with a protective layer and began to fill it with water, as they prepared their props waiting for Aiden to join them.

Miles, Austin, and Aiden sat in pool inflatables holding fishing poles eager to see the reactions of students and staff as they arrive. There was a great deal of shock among friends to see the stunt they pulled off.

A sigh of relief came from principal, Catherine Jones as she thanked the students for being careful not to damage school property and said, “They even left it cleaner than they found it”. Everyone got a good laugh out of it.

When asked about their high school experience at HCHS, they said that they were “all worried about what the future would hold since we started high school during COVID”. But once things began to normalize, they soon realized how great their time at Harnett Central was going to be.

They dedicated their senior prank in memory of their beloved coach, Jason Johnson. “He would have loved it”, said West. This is what Miles, Austin, and Aiden have to say to incoming freshmen: “Don’t wish your high school life away, it will be over before you know it. Most importantly, have fun”.

They would also like to thank all the teachers and the staff at Harnett Central High School, Mr. Denton, and most especially Mrs. Jones.
