LILLINGTON, NC—Harnett County Schools is proud to announce that Emily McNeill will be the new principal of Benhaven Elementary School, effective July 1, 2025, upon the retirement of current principal Dr. Lora Street.
With over 20 years of experience in education, McNeill brings a wealth of knowledge, dedication, and leadership to this role. She began her career as a kindergarten teacher and has served students across Pitt, Wilson, and Harnett Counties. Most recently, she served as the assistant principal at Benhaven Elementary for six years and previously held leadership roles at North Harnett Primary and Boone Trail Elementary.
McNeill earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from East Carolina University, where she graduated with honors and was recognized on the Chancellor’s List every semester. She went on to receive a Master of School Administration from Campbell University, graduating with distinction.
Throughout her career, she has been recognized for excellence in teaching, including being named Teacher of the Year at Wells Elementary in Wilson County Schools.
Outside of school, McNeill enjoys walking her two dogs, attending her children’s sporting events, and listening to podcasts and audiobooks.
