LILLINGTON, NC – Harnett County Schools announces Mr. Christopher Pearson as the new Director of Athletics and School Safety at Central Services beginning February 1, 2023.
A native of Asheville, North Carolina, Chris Pearson is in his 22nd year serving the students of Harnett County Schools as a teacher, coach, and administrator. After spending time as a Middle and High school teacher and coach, he moved into administration in 2014. Over the past nine years, he has served as the Principal of Western Harnett High School from 2014-2018 before becoming the principal at Overhills High School.
Serving students and creating environments they can enjoy and thrive in has always been the priority for Mr. Pearson. He believes that the hard work teachers do every day is why our students and schools are successful and that administration should work to support teachers' growth and success because teachers are the real difference makers for kids.
Dr. Aaron L. Fleming, Superintendent, stated, "I appreciate Mr. Pearson’s willingness to help lead our school safety efforts. His experience leading our largest high school will serve us well as our county athletics director and enhancing our safety and security plans across the school district.”
Mr. Pearson earned his Bachelor's Degree from North Carolina State University and his Master's degree from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. His wife of 22 years, Kim, is also a Harnett County educator. They have two children, Isaiah and Lily, who attend Harnett County Schools. Mr. Pearson remains active in the community through various organizations and fulfills multiple roles within his church.
Looking into the future, Pearson stated, "I'm eager to impact additional students and teachers through this new role."
