Hello! My name is Maria Brafford.   This is my 30th year of teaching at Anderson Creek Primary. I began my career as a second grade teacher before transitioning to a Reading Recovery teacher.  I taught Reading Recovery for 21 years and served as one of the Reading Recovery Teacher Leaders for the county for eight years. I am currently serving as a Literacy Intervention Coach for Harnet County Schools. Therefore, I spend part of my day providing interventions for students at Anderson Creek and part of my day coaching intervention specialists in K-5 schools across the county.

I am proud to call Harnett County home.  I grew up in Harnett County and graduated from Western Harnett High School.  I completed my Bachelor's degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill...GO HEELS!!  I received my Master's degree from Fayetteville State University.  I have also earned my National Board Certification in the area of Literacy.  I am blessed to be able to work with young students, as they begin their journey of learning to read and write.  It brings me great joy to watch them as they learn and grow.
