I am very excited to be at Buies Creek Elementary serving as the media coordinator. I have been a librarian since 2008 in Harnett and Wake Counties. I also serve as the Elementary Battle of the Books coach for our school team. I look forward to sharing my passion for reading and learning with our students.

NC Children's Book Award Program
Here at Buies Creek Elementary, we participate in the NC Children's Book Award Program (NCCBA). In this program, each year students from across the state nominate their favorite books which meet the award criteria. Then the NCCBA state committee narrows the nominations down to 10-12 titles. School and public libraries promote and read the books during the year and finally, in the spring, students from across the state vote on their favorite. The program aims to introduce new and exciting literature to broaden students' reading interests.
