MEET THE TEACHER
Ms. Campagna was born in New York but raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where her father served in the military.
After graduating as valedictorian from her high school, she attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte on an academic scholarship, where she had an interdisciplinary major in Childhood and Family Development with a minor in Children's Literature and Childhood Studies. During college, she had many wonderful opportunities, such as studying British Children's Literature abroad at King's College in London and serving on the executive board for Charlotte Dance Marathon, which raised money for their local Children's Miracle Network hospital. During her senior year, she interned at a local children's hospital and did her student teaching in a self-contained pre-k classroom for students with severe/profound disabilities. She graduated summa cum laude in 2018 with dual honors - the University Honors Program and Honors in Education, after writing her senior thesis on childhood cancer outcomes in developing countries and efforts to improve them. She also graduated with a license to teach birth through kindergarten, including Special Education.
Upon graduating from college, she moved back home to Fayetteville to be near to her family and began teaching 1st grade in 2018 at The Capitol Encore Academy, an arts integration charter school. She went on to obtain licensure in K-6 in addition to her initial B-K licensure. After two years at TCEA, she moved further north and made the switch to Harnett County, where she found her home with the Benhaven Bulldogs. After teaching 1st grade an additional year and loving every moment of it, she decided to make the switch to 3rd grade in order to utilize more of her children's literature studies in college and provide herself with a new challenge to grow as an educator. Two years ago, Ms. Campagna looped with her 3rd graders to 4th grade, which is where she found her forever home!
Ms. Campagna is thrilled to be a Benhaven Bulldog and is passionate about instilling a love of reading in children, providing a safe space for equitable learning for all children, and educating the whole child, both academically as well as socially and emotionally. She is looking forward to continuing this work in fourth grade as she begins her 5th year at Benhaven! Go Bulldogs!
