My name is Sherry Lynn Bacot Joiner.  I have lived in the western part of Harnett County, N.C. since I was five years old.  I attended elementary school at Johnsonville, middle school at Benhaven, and graduated from Western Harnett High School.  So, as you can imagine, I've witnessed huge changes in the area.  I use to ride horses on the land where Heritage Village, Carolina Hills, Carolina Lakes, and Linden Oaks now sit, long before developers even thought about building on those sites. Other than a couple of "mom and pop" gas stations/country stores, the nearest stores were in Spring Lake and Sanford.

I have been married 40 years to my wonderful husband, Terry.  I have three amazing adult children; Aaron, Joshua, and Rebekah.  I was a stay-at-home mom until the day I walked my daughter, the youngest, to kindergarten.  That day I knew that I needed to find something to do to fill my days.  So, I decided to enroll in college.  It wasn't long until I knew that I wanted to teach.   I graduated Cum Laude from St. Andrews University with a BA in Elementary Education. I have an add-on certificate from UNC Pembroke for teaching academically gifted students.

I have taught 2nd grade for one year, 5th grade 4 years and 4th grade for the rest of my career. The 2025/26 school year will be my 27th year as a teacher.  You'll find that I have extremely high academic and behavior expectations. We work hard but you'll find that I treat my students to a lot of special rewards/days, to thank them for all that they do. My goal is to academically grow my students as well as encourage them to be kind, respectful and responsible citizens. I am always excited about all that each year has in store. I know that I was called to teach and so I give everything I have to this passion of mine!
