Hello. My name is Darlena Swann. I’m a 5th Grade teacher at Benhaven Elementary School. Glad to be apart of the Benhaven Bulldog family. I was born in Pinehurst, NC. However, I attended Harnett County Public Schools. In addition to North Carolina, I lived in Sacramento, California, Worchester, Massachusetts, and Cleveland, Ohio.

My educational background includes an undergraduate B.S. degree from East Carolina University and a MBA from Strayer University.

I became an educator to have a positive impact in children's lives. It's important to plant seeds into a child's future so they can learn, grow, and become successful. I'm passionate about mentoring and transforming a classroom into a creative space for learning. My motto is if you can believe, you can also achieve.

During my teaching journey, I had the opportunity to work with different grade levels - Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st , 2nd & 5th Grade, and 6th Grade Science.

I come from a legacy of educators, with my mother, the late Gloria W. Swann being one of them. So grateful for my mother planting good seeds in my life and the lives of others in the community. I wish to follow in her footsteps.

My hobbies include reading, traveling, theatrical arts, scrapbooking, aerobics, yoga, and listening to jazz music. Also, I enjoy spending time with family and friends.
