Welcome to fourth grade! We are going to learn many new things this year and will grow in countless ways! I thank you in advance for allowing me the opportunity to work with your children and to be a part of their lives.
A little about me: I have spent my entire life as a part of a military family. We were stationed at Pope AFB when I graduated from South View High School in Hope Mills (GO TIGERS!). When college rolled around, I packed up my bags and moved to Frederick, Maryland where I graduated from Hood College with a B.A. in Education. Once I had that degree in hand, I moved BACK to N.C. and started teaching 3rd grade at William H. Owen Elementary School in Fayetteville.
In the 10 years that followed, we welcomed two daughters and lived in Germany, New York, and Alaska. I taught 3rd grade at Schweinfurt Elementary School in Germany and 2nd grade at West Point Elementary School in New York. While we lived in Alaska, I returned to school and earned my M.S. in Education from Walden University. Once my husband retired we decided to make North Carolina our forever home. ❤️
This year marks my 19th year of teaching and my eleventh year at BTES. I look forward to getting to know your children and tackling the challenges and opportunities that this year will bring.
It is my firm belief that family is every child’s first and most important teacher. You are the expert on your child and when we work together we can have a greater impact on your child’s education. Adults are always welcome to volunteer and are encouraged to communicate with me on a regular basis. It is also very important that I be kept informed of any changes, illnesses, or events that may affect your child at school.
If you have any questions or concerns at all this year, please do not hesitate to call me or send in a note. I would be delighted to meet with you to answer questions or address any concerns. I look forward to getting to know you and your child. Here’s to an AMAZING year!
