Meet the Teacher

Mrs. Sarah M. Holder

Mrs. Sarah M. Holder

Hello, my name is Sarah McArthur Holder and the 25-26 school year will be my 26th year of teaching at Boone Trail Elementary School. I attended Pembroke University and Campbell University. I have taught 3rd and 4th grade at Boone Trail Elementary and love both grades. I am known for telling lots of stories about the people and places we learn about.  My husband and I have three wonderful children. I love riding horses as well as training and playing with my German Shepherd dog, Jura. I look forward to a successful year working with your child. Please be patient as we get used to each other and the differences from 2nd grade to 3rd grade.  I have big expectations for them.

 HOMEWORK

I will provide a Homework binder with pages already inside.  The pages contain examples of the reading as well as the directions for how to do the Reading and Math homework.

*Please do not take pages out or move them around within the Homework Binder!!

Math Homework- It is always in the form of a word problem written the way the EOG math problems are written.  We have done this so they will be constantly exposed to the type of questions seen at the end of the year. I will provide the homework sheet on Mondays.  In class I will demonstrate how to do our math and reading homework as well as how to keep homework organized.

Math homework is always a spiral review of past skills, so no excuses for not finishing.  Homework will be 3 questions each night and due on Friday.

We expect the math to be done in the 4 steps we teach them to use for all word problems and for all questions.  The homework sheet is taken up on Friday to be graded. It may be turned in earlier if they finish before Friday.

 Reading homework-

Consists of one passage for the week which has 4 questions for each night.  Students need to read the passage each night then answer that day’s questions.
