What we did in third grade this month:
This month, our 3rd graders have been learning about the different parts of a plant and their functions. To see this in action, students completed a science experiment using celery placed in colored water. Over time, they were able to observe how the water traveled up through the stem, showing how plants move water from their roots to their leaves and flowers.
In addition, students explored the three main types of soil: clay, sand, and loam. They observed the texture, color, and the way each soil holds water. This investigation helped students understand how different soils affect plant growth and which type of soil is best for supporting healthy plants.
