3rd Grade Teacher

I have lived in Coats since I was 6 and began attending Coats Elementary in 1st grade!  I loved this school so much I made it my dream job.  I graduated from Triton High School in 2006 and went on to attend The University of North Carolina at Wilmington and graduated with my degree in elementary education in 2010.  I have been teaching for 10 years and I have completed my masters in New Literacies and Global Learning at NCSU.   I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have two beautiful, wild boys, ages 7 and 9, and a little girl.  I also have five big, obnoxious dogs that I adore and 2 very spoiled cats. I am a huge Carolina Panthers and Wolfpack fan!  My passions, other than teaching, include reading, camping, and painting.

Policies & Procedures

"Rules"

My classroom runs off of the CES "3":

* Be Responsible

* Be Respectful

* Be Kind

PBIS

We will follow the jacket pride rules used by our school.  This will include jacket expectations in the classroom, hallway, bathrooms, cafeteria, and more.

Rewards & Consequences

As your child exhibits positive behavior he or she will earn a "point" for their team.  Teams will change up every week along with a "team lead". At the end of the week, the winning team will earn a homework pass and prize!

Negative behavior will be dealt with according to the child and the situation.  Children who display severe disruptive behavior will be given a minor or major write up and that paperwork will be sent home to be signed.

Grading Policies:

100-90 = A (I understand!)

89 - 80 = B (I mostly understand!)

79-70 = C  (I understand some of the material but I need to ask questions)

69 - 60 = D (I do not understand and need to ask for help!, Parent-Teacher Conference is Suggested)

59 & Below = Failing (Parent-Teacher Conference is a MUST)
