Hello and welcome!  

2023 will be my 14th year as a Technology Facilitator in Harnett County and my 26th year in Education.  

Before my current position, I taught regular education classes in Kindergarten, first, second, & third grades.  In my spare time, I enjoy reading, running, camping, traveling, hiking, and backpacking. I moved to Durham, NC from upstate NY in 1997.  I have two grown daughters, a husband and many fur-babies.

  • Master's of Education in Instructional Technology; East Carolina University - May 2014

  • Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education; State University of New York, College at Oneonta - May 1996

2009-Present: Instructional Technology Facilitator - Harnett County Schools

ISTE Standards for Technology:

Units of Study

I teach International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) standards-based technology skills courses at Erwin Elementary at Gentry.  My schedule consists of teaching each homeroom class once a week in addition to supervising all technology inventory.  I also assist in integrating technology into regular classrooms by providing staff development for all staff members on a monthly and case by case basis.

My units consist of teaching the following state technology standards:

  • Safety and Ethical Issues

    • Cyberbullying, Digital Citizenship, Social Media

  • Sources of Information

    • Learning about and using reliable internet resources 

  • Informational Text

    • Using websites such as iReady and public library websites to read e-books

  • Technology as a Tool

    • Google Docs, Slides, Sheets

    • Blogging 

    • Mind mapping websites

  • Research Process

    • Working collaboratively with other students to accomplish above standards

Internet Safety

HCS follows the Children's Internet Protection Act of 2001.  All students learn the rules of digital citizenship and are expected to follow them every day online and in real life.
