Hi! My name is Kimberly Edwards and this is my upcoming fourth year at EES. I began my career in HCS as school counselor at Highland Elementary from 2019-2021. I then became the 6th grade counselor at a middle school in Moore County but quickly realized that elementary students have my heart. This is my second full year as the media coordinator here at EES.
When I am not at school I am somewhere reading, crocheting, listening to songs from Hamilton, going to parks, playing soccer, going to comic cons/cosplaying with my friends, spending time with my family, taking care of my guinea pig or at Starbucks enjoying the pink drink. I am also a former "theatre kid". I look forward to getting to know you and your scholar.

EES Library Policies
Kindergarten students are allowed to check out 1 book each time they attend library class. Kindergarten chooses from buckets of books that are targeted at their level of beginning reading. Once students begin 1st grade they may start going to the bookshelves and learning how to use shelf markers to help put books back where they belong. They may also begin checking out 2 books each time. 1st and 2nd graders have certain shelves they may choose books from that are targeted at their reading level. 3rd-5th graders are allowed at each shelf in the library to choose books from. They also check out 2 books each time. Students may renew books up to 2 times to give others the chance to read the book. If students leave books at home or in the classroom, they may not do check out during library time.
We do charge for lost books at the end of the year. Charges for lost books will be sent to the students account, so try your best to keep up with them! If a book comes back damaged beyond repair, a fee may be assessed to replace the title.
Book Fair is held each year in March, more information coming soon!
Battle of the Books
Battle of the Books began as a program for middle school students, grades 6-8. The program has expanded to include the elementary and high school levels. Students at participating schools read books from a list established by the state Battle of the Books committees and then compete in quiz-bowl-style tournaments to test their knowledge of these books.(NC SLMA website)
Here at EES, we choose 12 students (no more than 12) to be on our team. These students must have good behavior (no write-ups), read the books on the list and be at each practice (Wednesdays and Thursdays in the library during school). Our district competition is in March each year.
