Parents and Guardians, 

Please practice reciting the alphabet letter names and sounds and counting 1-50 (or higher!) with your child on a daily basis. On the way to and from school would be a great and quick time to do so! We are focusing on beginning and ending sounds of words as well. I always say you can turn any situation into a learning opportunity! When in the grocery store with your child, point out the beginning sounds for the words on packages. Or when looking at the TV Guide/Netflix when trying to pick a show to watch, prompt your child to point out the beginning sounds of the TV show names. :) Let me know if you need any new materials for at home practice and I'll be happy to provide them. 

The Basics

• We will be utilizing individual supplies this year. Each student will need:

  • pencil box 

  • crayons

  • markers

  • dry erase markers 

  • glue sticks

  • play doh 

  • *We don't need any pencils or scissors. I have plenty at school 

Wishlist 

• Cleaning supplies  

  • cleaning wipes 

  • Lysol spray 

  • hand sanitizer 

• baby wipes 

• Ziploc bags 

• copy paper or colored paper 

*Each student will also need a snack daily (or you can store it at school). Please also bring send extra set of clothes labeled in a bag with your student's name 

Students will arrive between 7:45 – 8:45am. Tardies will begin at 8:45am. Remember, our instruction begins at 9:15am. Students will dismiss on the bus at 2:40pm. If your child is going home in a different way then they normally do, the parent needs to send a handwritten note with date/time with signature and change of transportation. If your child is absent from school, please provide a handwritten note of explanation or a doctor’s note to verify the absence within 3 school days.

Every day, students will be given 10-15 minutes to eat a snack. Please provide a snack for your child every day.

We love to celebrate birthdays! If you are wanting to bring a treat for your child’s birthday, please be sure to bring enough for all children in the class. Also, please note that all food/drink must be store bought. No homemade treats.

Daily folders will be sent home every day. Please make sure to check this folder daily. 

We will be using class dojo for communication with parents this year. Please download the app and send me a message through my email: astewart4@harnett.k12.nc.us

If your child is completing work virtually from home, we will use a work packet and also Seesaw for independent instruction if requested.
