Highland Elementary Physical Education Teacher

Mr. Sudia "Mr. S"
Hello everyone, my name is Franklin “Frankie” Sudia. I went to Harnett Central High School where I was known by all the teachers, and was extremely involved with the tennis team. I managed the girls' tennis team and played on the boys' team all 4 years. My senior year, I was the team's number 1. I was an assistant coach for both teams while I was a full-time student at Central Carolina Community College. I finished up getting a bachelor's degree in physical education k-12 licensure at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where I graduated in May of 2021. I love to fish, play/coach tennis and watch hockey. I love to play pretty much all sports. I love movies and the books that they come from. My favorite is The Lord of the Rings. This is my Fifth year teaching and I'm glad to be at Highland Elementary. My goals are to teach students three things. The first is to teach students the fundamentals of sports, so that they will have the basic foundation for the students to be able to be successful and build on for any sport they want to try. I am a big believer that if one is good at something, then one is more likely to enjoy it. The second is to teach the students personal responsibility. Third is teamwork. The last two are because, in order to have a socially healthy and positive life, one has to be able to take responsibility for their actions and work as a team. I do not grade any student on athleticism but participation and behavior. I have a stubbornly smart, crazy black lab puppy named Chloe. I am one of those people that is an open book and what you see is what you get. I love to talk and be around people.
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." - Timo Cruz (Coach Carter)
