Born in Durham, NC, I grew up in Jacksonville, NC and graduated from JHS in 1994.  I received a NC Teaching Fellows Scholarship to attend East Carolina University and graduated cum laude in 1998.  I began my teaching career in Pitt County, NC and have been teaching for over 25 years in North Carolina schools.  I have finished my first full year in the Media Coordinator position and now get to share my lifelong love of reading with my students. 

I am a National Board certified teacher in Early/Middle Childhood music and have teaching certifications in K-12 music, ESL, and AIG. I love to learn so I am constantly adding more certifications to my teaching license.  I will finish my Master of Library Science at ECU in May 2026.

I married my husband, Mike, in 2001 and we currently have three fur babies, Callie, Luna, and Charlie. We love to travel, watch movies, and hang out with our friends.
