Do not be surprised by the logical results of your  past actions.

My name is Carlene Steele. I am from the beautiful island of Jamaica. I decided to come to America to broaden my professional horizons. Additionally, learning a new culture and sharing my culture has been such a joy. I believe that as significant others in our students’ lives, we MUST instill in them a culture of WORKING HARD to achieve the greatness that lies in all of them.

Nelson Mandela indicated that education is the most powerful weapon that people can use to change the world. As an educator, I have been an agent of change in the classroom for the past 22 years. I specialize in helping students maximize their full potential. My real strength is my ability to help my students develop an aptitude for reading across the curriculum.

Currently, I hold a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a Bachelor’s Degree in Literacy Studies (English Language)  from the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica. I also hold a Diploma in Primary Education from Moneague College, Jamaica. Additionally, I am a lifelong learner who believes in John Dana’s ideology “He who dares to teach must  never cease to learn”. As such, I have completed numerous professional development courses, including Child Friendly School Leadership and Emerging from Covid 19 - The 3R Framework for School Leaders at The National College of Educational Leadership (NCEL), Jamaica.

My general plans for the school year include developing sound relationships with parents. I approach parent-teacher communication with the end  in mind, which is to inspire positive changes and to empower students. I encourage friendly communication hinged on mutual respect and cooperation. Please feel free to contact me. I look forward to working with you.

I am a firm believer in the old adage “Teamwork makes the dream work”.
