Mrs. Casie Mims
Welcome to learning English as a Second Language!
My name is Casie Mims. I am from Raleigh, NC and am a graduate of Appalachian State University. The 2025-2026 school year will be my 17th year as an educator and my 3rd year teaching ESL (English as a Second Language). I have been so blessed to call Dunn Elementary School my home for the past 13 years! I live with my husband, son, daughter, and our two dogs: Buster and Lady.

English As A Second Language Class
Our goal in English As A Second Language Class (ESL) is to learn the English language by working in the domains of listening, reading, speaking, and writing. In this class, we value bilingualism/multilingualism and biliteracy/multiliteracy, considering our knowledge of two or more languages to be our superpower! Students who receive ESL classes are considered Multilingual Learners (MLs).
Mrs. Mims teaches Dunn Elementary's fourth and fifth grade ML students.

This schedule reflects the 2024-2025 academic school year. A new schedule will be updated in August of 2025.
Google Classroom
Students will have activities posted on Google Classroom. Students will receive an invite to the Google Classroom when classes begin in the 2025-2026 school year. Parents will also have a chance to connect with our Google Classroom to view student activities, grades, and class information and resources.
The current 2024-2025 Google Classroom classes will be deactivated at the end of the school year for students.
