Dear Parent(s), Guardian(s), and Student:
We are delighted to welcome you to Harnett Virtual Academy. Established in August 2021, Harnett Virtual Academy (HVA) was created to provide Harnett County students with an alternative learning option to the traditional brick-and-mortar school. HVA is a full-time online school serving students from Kindergarten through 12th grade. During the 2021-2022 school year, HVA served approximately 270 students, offering families flexibility and control over their learning.
Harnett Virtual Academy has partnered with Pearson Online School to provide a rigorous online education. Students enrolled at HVA take a full course load just like their peers in traditional schools. Success in our program requires students to be self-motivated, self-disciplined, eager to learn in an asynchronous environment, capable of working independently, and proficient in time management.
While our primary focus is on promoting student learning and academic success, we also have specialists in place to provide behavioral support and interventions. These efforts aim to prepare students to be productive members of their communities, both at school and home, without sacrificing their individuality.
As the principal of Harnett Virtual Academy, I, Dawn Young, will collaborate with our administrative team, faculty, and staff to support our students in achieving high success. We believe it is essential that all students are inspired to utilize their creativity, intellectual abilities, and decision-making skills to reach their fullest potential.
For Harnett Virtual Academy to fulfill its mission, it will take the collaborative efforts of our students, parents, staff, and community.
