🎄🚂 Polar Express Reader’s Theatre – TODAY! 🚂🎄

Our 5th and 6th grade students are excited to present a Reader’s Theatre performance of The Polar Express today, Thursday, December 18, 2025!

⏰ Performance Times:
• 9:00–9:45 AM – Performing for Kindergarten & 1st Grade
• 10:00–10:45 AM – Performing for 2nd, 3rd, & 4th Grade
• 6:00–6:45 PM – Evening performance for families

🎟️ The evening performance is sponsored by our Student Council. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. All donations will directly support the LaFayette Year-Round School Student Council.

We are so proud of our students and their hard work bringing this holiday classic to life. We hope you can join us for an evening full of Christmas magic! ✨🎅

Harnett County Schools will operate on a regular schedule tomorrow morning. Please be sure students are bundled up and dressed warmly when coming to school. 🧣🧤

Parents, please review the directions on how to download the Here Comes the Bus app. The app allows you to track your child’s bus in real time and helps reduce wait times at bus stops. 🚌📱

Parents, this is a reminder that our December Dress-Up Days are happening next week! We can’t wait to see all the festive fun.

✨ Monday: Wear your Santa Hat
🔔 Tuesday: Wear your Believe Bells (a big thank you to our amazing PTO for purchasing bells for all students and staff!)
💡 Wednesday: Bright Light Day – dress up with lights
😴 Thursday: Pajama Day
🍬 Friday: Candy Cane Day – wear Red & White

Angel Tree Giving Program 🎁

Our Angel Tree is now up in the lobby, and the Angels are ready to be chosen!

How to Participate:

*Choose an Angel from the tree.
*Go to the office and fill out the sign-up sheet!
*On the sign up sheet, please include the following:
*Your name
*The color, letter and number of the Angel
*Go shopping for your Angel.
*Return the gifts — unwrapped — to the office by Tuesday, December 16th.
*Please make sure to return the Angel tag along with the gifts.

Our staff, our PTO and parents will wrap the gifts and prepare for pickup!

Come home to Harnett! We will be hosting a face-to-face recruitment event on Tuesday, June 11 at the Harnett County Public Library and Resource Center. This is a floating event that will begin at 2:00 PM and end around 4:00 PM. We are currently recruiting for all positions, both certified and classified. Non-licensed applicants who hold a 4-year degree in any area are welcome to attend to learn more about alternative licensure pathways into the classroom. Register today at www.bit.ly/HCS_Careers

SUN Bucks: A new food assistance program for school children. Starting this summer, families that qualify can expect to receive $120 per eligible child in grocery-buying benefits on a debit-like card. These benefits can be used to purchase food at retailers that accept EBT, including most major grocery stores. Visit the SUN Bucks webpage at www.ncdhhs.gov/sunbucks to learn more. IMPORTANT: Some families will get benefits automatically sent to the mailing address in their child’s school record. Update your child’s mailing address by March 28th by contacting your child’s school.
