Meet the Teacher
Mr. Desi Campbell

Desi L. Campbell is a native of Washington, D.C., and a proud graduate of Johnson C. Smith University. He also attended Savannah State University. Desi began his career in education as a technology teacher in Savannah, Georgia, where he served for nine years. He later taught in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools for four years before transitioning into music education in Harnett County Schools, where he served for four and a half years. He is currently in his first year as a 5th grade teacher at Lillington-Shawtown Elementary School.
In addition to his work in education, Desi is a published author of 19 African American history books and serves as the Executive Director of the Harnett County African American Heritage Center. Through his writing and leadership, he is committed to preserving, documenting, and sharing the rich history and legacy of African American communities in North Carolina and beyond.
