Hello, my name is Quamesia Drummond I'm a native of Harnett County born and raised. I was educated within the Harnett County School System. I am a graduate of Fayetteville State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.  I have two sons in the military. They are the center of my world. They have blessed me with two amazing grandsons, Mykal, Jr, and Brysen whom I completely adore. I also have a 6-month-old goldendoodle named Mya whom I am learning so much about each day. I am honored to be teaching at Overhills High School this year. I have been in Education for 15 years now with the Harnett County School System. Spending most of those years at Triton High School.  I’m looking forward to what this year has to offer me and my students. Upon completion of this course objectives listed below, students will have the knowledge and understanding to demonstrate the objectives successfully.  

  • Students should report to class in a timely manner following tardy and classroom policies. 

  •  They should be dressed within HCS Policy and on lab days comply with kitchen safety policies.

  • During labs every student must have hair covered or pulled back.  

Class rules are as follows:  

  • Come to class prepared to work and have writing utensils. 

  • You will be respectful to your teacher as well as your classmates at all times.

  • You will be responsible for for any and all assignments.

  •  All electronic devices are to be put away when bell rings this includes phones, earbuds, headphones and watches.

  •  Stay in your assigned seat until I say otherwise. 

  • You are to remain quite while the teacher is giving instructions.

  • You will not asked to use the restroom the first part of class.   

Standards:

1.0 Understand the relationship between food choices and health. 

2.0 Understand methods of food preparation. 

3.0 Understand procedures, equipment and cooking methods in food preparation. 

4.0 Understand procedures, equipment and techniques applied to baking production.

5.0 Understand the principles of etiquette and meal service. 

6.0 Apply methods for meal planning and preparation. 

Grading:

Testing/Projects:  40%     Lab/quizzes:  30%     Class work/participation:  30%

Procedures for classwork: 

  • Assignments should be completed according to instructions and to the best of your ability

  • Turn in assignments in a designated class block area.

  • Keep all your work and notes in.  This will keep us both from losing papers and provide study sheets in the future. 

  • If you miss class please see me, as many times as it takes(within reason) to get missing work. 

My greatest desire is to see your student succeed in this class.  I truly believe this class is a basis for a healthy, happy independence we want for all our children.  Please contact me at any time and in any way available with concerns.  By signing this you understand my expectation and role and that of your student to behave responsibly and be successful.
