Degrees: Bachelor of Arts from Miami University of Ohio; Master of School Administration from NC State University
I graduated from Miami University of Ohio and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and Environmental Studies. I was a 2013 Teach For America corps member in Eastern North Carolina and served my commitment at Northwest Halifax High School as a special education science teacher. Afterward, I moved to the Wake County Public School System and was a special education reading teacher at Garner Magnet High School. I earned my Master of School Administration degree from NC State University in May of 2020. For the first semester of the 2020-2021 school year, I was a special education teacher at A.C. Reynolds Middle School in Asheville. I then became Assistant Principal at East Henderson High School located near Hendersonville, NC. My husband and I moved to Harnett County in 2021 to be closer to family again. I am excited to continue serving as your Assistant Principal at SHES.
As a school administrator, I will use my previous experience as a special educator to advocate for all learners, build connections by showing empathy, and distribute leadership by encouraging others to lead in their strengths. By creating a compassionate and inclusive environment, I will support teachers in ensuring that every child is receiving equitable and rigorous instruction every day. Building sustainable relationships with all stakeholders will be my key focus in ensuring that every child will be successful. This will be accomplished by demonstrating care, community, empowerment, and resilience.
